Your July 10' Newsletter is here, and this month we will be discussing How To Hit A Draw Shot.* Hitting a "Draw" shot is an excellent way for players to add extra distance off the tee. The shot, which curves right to left, will always go farther than one that fades or slices to the right. A draw shot is hit with a slightly closed clubface, which means that there is a little less loft at impact, resulting in a lower ball flight that produces more roll after landing. Follow these steps to achieve a Draw:

  • Aim your body to the right of the target.
  • Close the clubface.
  • Swing parallel, along the line of your feet.
  • To draw, the main goal is to deliver the clubface to the ball with the leading edge closed, moving on a path from slightly inside the target line, and release your hands and clubhead freely through the ball.

These factors produce counterclockwise sidespin and a right-to-left drawing ball flight. Use the draw shot on the dogleg-left holes and watch your scores come down!
