Correct Posture

Be Better Golf .Com

April Newsletter

Dear Subscriber,

Your April newsletter is here, and this month we are concentrating on Posture. The correct ball address position is accomplished by achieving two things: *1. The correct body position (posture) and 2. Having the club in the correct position. Posture is the key to the start of a great swing so below are tips to help get your body in the right position.
  1. Place a club on your back where the club head is touching your head and the grip is touching your rear end.
  2. The lower part of your back should be arched in and not touching the club shaft.
  3. Without letting the club head come away from your head and without the grip coming away from your rear end, bend from your hips slightly forward.
  4. After you have bent forward about 20 to 30 degrees from your attention position, flex your knees slightly.
  5. Ensure your weight is even on both feet and towards the balls of each foot.
  6. Put the club down and let your arms hang down below your shoulders.
  7. This is the correct body position (posture) needed for a great swing.

Although this may seem and feel strange and uncomfortable, if you try this in front of a mirror you will see that this looks correct. As you consistently set in the correct body position, the uncomfortable feeling will pass as your body gets used to it.

Now go out and play better golf!

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening -- and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented. -- Arnold Palmer
