C-Thru Golf Grip Sizing

SIZING:

All grips are not equal and you do have a choice or what size golf grip you should use. For very small hands, a Junior grip will allow some golfers to hold the club with less pressure, which is the beginning of a good swing. Though the inside of a Junior grip is made with a .500” core, it will fit most golf shafts and be considerably smaller than a Ladies grip.

Men’s grips have a larger overall diameter and may be increased in size without having to build up the shaft with masking tape prior to installing the label and grip. Our Mid Tour has a larger diameter for the bottom hand for better control and our Jumbo is for the golfer who needs a grip that actually fits their hands.

TIP- Make sure that the ring and middle finger of the left hand (for right handed golfers) gently presses into the palm of your hand and is NOT separated or pressing into your palm.

MEASUREMENTS
To determine thea ctual size of your golf grip, a set of calipers is needed. Measure the diameter 2 inches from the cap, or top of the grip. Shaft sizes, average arond .600”, but will vary from .500”, for juniors, and may exceed .700” for some shafts (TaylorMade Bubble is the most notable). Therefore, matching the proper size grip to your shaft will ultimately determine what the finished outside diameter of your golf grip will be.

The markings inside the open end of your golf grip are a series of letters and numbers:
L- Ladies
M- Mens
R- round, as opposed to ribbed or reminder
50- core size indicating .500”
56- core size of .560"
58- core size of .580"
60- core size of .600”

TERMINOLOGY

A ‘standard’ grip is attained by installing a M58 grip (for men) or a L58 (for ladies) on a .580” shaft. If a larger shaft is what you have, then the same grip will be slightly larger and is referred to as +1/64” or 1 size.
A ‘build up’ may also be done by installing additional tape(generally masking tape) to the shaft.
Taper- is the measured outside diameter from 2” from the top of the grip to 8” from the top of the grip. This varies from company to company.
Core- the bar used in production of the grip that will determine what size the golf grip will finish.
Round- generally accepted within the industry by club manufacturers on their production clubs.
Reminder- a flat area on a core bar will produce a raised area on the bottom of a grip for increased awareness of where to place the club. Not recommended for most golfers since the proper grip does NOT align with the reminder when installed correctly.

INSTALLATION
Most golf grips are installed with 2 way tape to hold the grip in place. A C-Thru Grip does NOT need 2 way tape because the material adheres to the club due to the characteristics of the proprietary material. Most golf grips are installed with a petroleum based solvent, usually a flammable, and is usually quite pungent. A C-Thru Grip is installed with hair spray. The use of a pump or aerosol doesn’t matter and we recommend White Rain since it is the least expensive and works the best.
